ART

Photography

Canvases presented a restriction for Spike. He did some for his first exhibitions, but soon realised that he didn’t see himself painting in a studio. Painting was what he did outside in actual size. It became clear that he considers the photos of the pieces he paints on location to be the artwork that could be purchased by fans and collectors, especially as the pieces by then no longer exist. He has defined the 1.50 m x 1 m format as the perfect size for his photos. It is a nice size for all kind of walls and the photo gives the viewer the impression of standing in front of a window looking at the piece. The photos are all sold in a series of three prints.

Single artwork

Even though the canvas might not be the right medium for Spike, he likes to collect old paper objects. Envelopes, notebooks, paperbacks, forms and bills. So every now and then he does small series of individual artworks on those mediums. The series, which consist of less than 15 artworks, are rare. Indeed, Spike has only done 3 series until now – in 2007, 2011 and in 2017. Watch out for when the next series comes out!
